Civil Liberties and Human Rights
It is very common for us to have clients who have lost the liberty or been injured due to mistakes made by the Police, Courts, Probationary Service and indeed Prisons.
In many cases a claim for damages can be made, but most people who find themselves on the wrong side of the criminal justice system will find that their criminal solicitors are not quite sure what to do about such problems because it’s beyond their usual remit of work. Often pursuing a case like this is as much about knowing who to contact and who to claim against and indeed where to claim as it is about knowing the law. As we have many years of expert experience in this area giving a successful outcome has always been our aim.
We have helped many clients obtain compensation where there has been an injustice.
A lack of communication within the justice systems, hearings been too late due to lack of funding, people being detained overnight due to warrants not being cancelled, properties being entered where there is no right to do so and people being arrested where there is no reasonable suspicion or where it’s unnecessary with the resulting injury often physical and psychological, together with damage to reputation can have a devastating effect upon the victim.
If you have ever experienced a situation where you have been unlawfully arrested, had your release delayed due to the Parole Board or Probation Service, suffered as a result of a prison miscalculation, been assaulted in prison, been bitten by a police dog or had a tag left on too long the likelihood is that we will be able to assist you and obtain compensation for that injustice.
People can often find themselves apparently voiceless and unheard in such situations and we use our specialist experience to champion the rights of all.
